We are looking for a match funding partner for round 3 of our Carbon Innovation Fund, which looks to reduce emissions, protect biodiversity and improve livelihoods within the food and farming sectors.
This Fund is supported by Co-op Food through the sales of compostable carrier bags in-store.
The Co-op Foundation launched its Carbon Innovation Fund for its pilot year in 2021. After a successful first year, we are proud to be supporting 15 organisations working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the food and farming sector across the UK and overseas, with £1.4m worth of funding.
We launched round 2 of the Carbon Innovation Fund in February 2023. This round focuses on funding ideas that reduce the UK farming sector's reliance on soy-based animal feed and synthetic fertilisers.
We are now seeking a match funding partner to help us increase our impact for round 3. We have circa £900k - £1m available. We can be flexible about the level of funding contribution a partner might be able to commit, as well as on timings, theme and styles of funding.
We hope to launch in 2024 with a fund that focuses on the food and farming sectors, but would be happy to discuss and develop this together.
How to get involved
If this sounds like an interesting fit, please do let us know as soon as possible. Ideally, we would like to be in the discussion stages with a match funder by December 2023.
Funders interested in this opportunity can contact Aruna Bahia or Ella Smyth at Co-op Foundation.

Learning and Resources
The Carbon Innovation fund supports Co-op Foundation’s new strategy ‘Building Communities of the Future Together’. As a part of this strategy development, we asked 100young people what a fair and co-operative community of the future would look like. One of the 6 key themes was ‘sustainability’, and we are pleased to be addressing this priority through this exciting fund.
