Aims and activities
An opportunity for funders to collaborate together, and in partnership with the Institute of Conservation (Icon), to support conservation internships in specialist areas deemed 'at risk'.
We aim to:
- Address critical skills shortages in a range of conservation specialisms, including but not exclusively those identified in Icon’s Skills Strategy (published in 2023)
- Increase the strategic collective impact of small trusts and foundations who have a shared interest in supporting the development of conservation skills, and to encourage other funders to join
- Demonstrate good practice and impact through the funder collaboration.
How to get involved
We currently have sufficient funds to support two year-long internships, but the ambition for this pilot is to support three, and we are open to other like-minded funders joining our existing group of funders in the coming months to take part in this pilot phase, which is running until December 2025.
You can contact Sue Bowers, Director of the Pilgrim Trust on sue@thepilgrimtrust.org.uk, or any of the other current funders mentioned below, to discuss this further.
