Aims and activities
Effective Altruism UK works to support individuals in the UK to have the most altruistic impact they can by applying evidence and analysis to the question of how to do the most good. Our support includes recommending promising donation opportunities and guiding donors in their giving choices by focusing on neglected, tractable, and important global issues through evidence-based research, and strategic funding.
We are able to provide resources and connections to other funders, philanthropic advisors and effective giving organisations such as Open Philanthropy, Founders Pledge, Giving What We Can, GiveWell, Giving Green, Longview Philanthropy, and Animal Charity Evaluators. This collaboration extends beyond just resource sharing; it's an invitation to join a community of like-minded donors who are committed to efficacy and impact. The approach of donors is primarily anchored in data-driven philanthropy, which includes investing in evidence-backed, cost-effective interventions for long-term impact and under-explored areas.
Moreover, there may be opportunities to participate in pooled funding circles focused on critical areas such as mental health, antimicrobial resistance, animal welfare, and seed funding for early-stage high impact charities.
