The Funder Commitment on Climate Change brings together grant-making charities to connect, exchange, share challenges and progress around integrating climate into their work.
Signatories commit to:
- educate and learn about climate change
- commit resources to addressing the causes and impacts of climate change
- integrate climate change into existing programmes, priorities and processes
- consider climate change in investment strategies
- decarbonise operations
- report on progress.
As the host organisation for the Funder Commitment on Climate Change, the Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF) organises:
- regular learning events to support foundations to think through how climate relates to their work
- peer exchange meetings for signatories to the Commitment that allows for group troubleshooting and sharing knowledge
- annual reporting on progress for foundations who are signed up to the Commitment, collecting examples of how funders are acting on climate.

Over 100 UK charitable foundations (varying in size, mission and area of benefit) have already signed the Commitment. A list of current signatories is available on our website.
Learning and Resources
ACF annually tracks and publishes signatories' progress since signing the Commitment. These reports are available here.
We also worked with the Environmental Funders Network on a resource pack for funders to better understand the climate crisis and the role of philanthropy.
