Aims and activities
Islington Giving is a coalition of local people, businesses and funders raising funds, supporting local projects and sharing power in Islington.
Our Coalition Partners are a group of funders who are active members of the Islington Giving board and Grants Committee. They help us to shape the focus of our local charity work.
Our vision of Islington is a strong, connected community where everyone has the opportunity to live a good life. Our strategic priorities are:
- Raising funds: We aim to raise funds to support local projects that create a greater sense of community.
- Sharing power: We will continue to share decision making with residents through resident-led grant-making and governance roles
- Increasing access: We will work to increase access to opportunities for residents, to help people in Islington live a good life.
- Reducing isolation: We will fund programmes that create community connections and reduce isolation.
- Sharing learning: We will listen to and learn from our partners, share learning and work to influence the funding sector positively.
How to get involved
We welcome new coalition partners keen to pool funding, and share and learn with us on a local level, as we pilot new grant-making approaches. As one of the first Giving Schemes in London, we inspired the founding of the London's Giving movement and piloted our first participatory grant-making programme in 2018. With our partners, we have innovated and piloted a range of new grant-making approaches, sharing our learning with our partners and the wider sector as part of our approach.
If you are interested in joining our partnership, please contact Lisa Robinson, Director of Development, on lisa.robinson@islingtongiving.org.uk or call us on 020 7288 6941 to speak with a member of the Islington Giving team. We would be delighted to have an initial chat.
We regularly hold events to introduce new organisations and people to our work, which you are welcome to join.
