Aims and activities

The Power of Pop Fund mission is to advance social justice by championing transformative, community-led organisations that influence pop culture creatively. We provide funding and organisational support to improve their reach, sustainability and impact. This work ladders towards three key goals.

  1. Cultivating community leadership: we fund organisations led by people from systemically marginalised communities, with an understanding that there is power in who gets to create and influence culture. Our decision making is guided by our Community Council, constituted of experts with lived experience of racialisation, migration and popular culture.
  2. Strengthening organisations: we fund organisations who have identified their unique contribution to justice and champion their autonomy, integrity, and authenticity. We offer wrap around support to facilitate healthy organisational life spans and authentic practice for our funded partners.
  3. Building infrastructure: we facilitate networks and bridge new connections between industries and actors to strengthen the pop culture for social justice ecosystem.

How to get involved

We are looking for collaborators interested in peer learning and progressive philanthropic approaches. Additional funding will enable us to advance our infrastructure-building work; host more events; commission further research; and fund more organisations.

Our early learning has demonstrated the importance of movement and field building. Additional funding would enable us to fund more organisations utilising different media in the cultural space and bolster this budding field of practice in the UK.
