Aims and activities

The main aim of the Rapid Response Fund is to support environmental groups trying to seize unexpected opportunities or respond to unanticipated crises with a potentially significant environmental outcome.

Over the years, leaders in the environment sector have told the Environmental Funders Network (EFN) that having rapid access to funds would strengthen environmental work in the UK. Quick access to funds would help organisations respond swiftly to unexpected crises and opportunities in ways they have often been unable to do due to a lack of readily available resources.

EFN was established to coordinate and connect, and is not constitutionally set up to provide funding itself. As such, they worked with funders in the network to establish a mechanism enabling them to provide urgent funding directly to applicants, following a process of independent review.

How to get involved

Interested funders can get involved by joining EFN and signing up to the Rapid Response Fund mailing list. If you are interested in joining or have any questions about the Rapid Response Fund, please contact Aliyah at aliyah@greenfunders.org

Please note, as of July 2024, the fund has been temporarily closed to new applications. This is to allow EFN to gather feedback and make some changes to the design of the fund to improve its effectiveness for both funders and fundraisers. However, new funders are still welcome to join the fund and are invited to contribute to this redesign process.
