The Tackling Racial Injustice Report is a co-produced community research project exploring the challenges funders face in reaching and supporting grassroots African diaspora-led groups, as described by the communities themselves.
Whilst the research was originally commissioned by Young Manchester to support the youth and play sector in Manchester, and co-produced with Manchester-based community groups, the recommendations and findings transcend both youth and play settings and the Manchester geography, to provide a potential roadmap to meaningfully funding grassroots African diaspora-led community groups across the UK.
Young Manchester wants to work with other funders to:
- Understand the practical changes we as funders need to make, as described by grassroots African Diaspora-led groups themselves, to be able to be confident our funding is accessible and that we are funding equitably
- Better fund and recognise the value grassroots African Diaspora-led groups bring to the VCSE sector and ecosystem of a place.
