The Centre for Social Justice Foundation are inviting representatives from across the funding sector to explore their research on Supercharging Philanthropy. The day will be a combination of keynote speeches, roundtable discussions and lunch.

Big Listen North East will be held at One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle City Centre, NE1 4BX

Trusts, foundations, philanthropists and other grant making organisations and individuals are welcome to come along and join the conversation alongside networking with peers from across the north east.

Confirmed speakers include philanthropists Jonathan & Jane Ruffer

Some of the themes which will be explored include:

  • Supporting infrastructure and collaboration
  • Systems, tech and information availability
  • Taxation: incentives and disincentives
  • Maximising impact and innovative funding mechanisms

Last year, the Centre for Social Justice brought together hundreds of small charities to discuss the problems and solutions to poverty. This directly steered their seminal works Two Nations and United Nation, with multiple recommendations subsequently submitted to Government.

Having heard loud and clear the difficulties of rising need, growing demand and limited resources across the funding sector, their Underfunded and Overlooked paper highlighted these problems, and set the stage for the CSJ's “Supercharging Philanthropy” series.

The CSJ want to help increase the quantity and quality of giving; and encouraging Government to support and empower funders with the systems and structures needed to build a stronger society. They are asking for your help to guide these recommendations. They want to hear from funders large and small, new and old, professional and amateur to discuss the philanthropic landscape.

RSVPs are required. Please confirm attendance with Mark Libby, CSJ North East Regional Manager on mark.libby@centreforsocialjustice.org.uk
