Yorkshire Funders Forum Online Round-table - Funding Poverty: Prevention or Crisis?

Thursday 2nd December 2021, 10:00 - 12:00.

Online event.

With Covid-19 having deepened the divide between the rich and poor and the current energy and supply chain issues meaning this winter is going to be harder than ever for many, how can funders make the biggest difference to those living in poverty? Is it time for us to consider whether our funds are better used to help beneficiaries to get out of poverty, or live better in poverty?

Joseph Rowntree Foundation will provide a national poverty update and then we’ll hear from funders and local frontline organisations who focus on early intervention and systemic change, and others that provide here and now crisis support to those living in poverty so we can better understand the power of both approaches.

The speakers will be:

  • Joseph Rowntree Foundation
  • Cathy Stancer, Director, Lankelly

ChaseFrontline charity panel:

  • Jon Dorsett from the Leeds Poverty Truth Commission
  • Kim Shutler, CEO of Bradford mental health charity The Cellar Trust
  • Richard Colbrook, Founder & Chair of Flourishing Families Leeds
