Come together with local funders of all types and sizes for an interactive session focused on the Latest Learnings from the Funding Sector.

We’ll hear from the following speakers and then have a break-out session in small groups to discuss what Yorkshire data/insights would be of most use to local funders now that Yorkshire Funders has some funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to carry out a research project.

  • Max Williams from Pro Bono Economics will share the findings from the organisation’s recent ‘Overcoming the barriers to better grant making’ research. Current voluntary sector grant making practices are failing to maximise resources and limiting their impact. While potentially valuable attempts to improve practice exist, it is not clear that the situation is changing at scale. Based on interviews with a wide range of grant makers and a workshop with grant making experts, this project examines the barriers to grant makers giving more effectively and the policy levers which could be used to overcome these.
  • Emily Dyson from IVAR will present the results from their ‘The Funding Experience’ survey. 1,000 frontline charities have shared their views on what changes funders could make to reduce the wasted time, effort and stress of fundraising and funding relationships. Emily will also talk about how foundations are responding to the cost-of-living crisis.
  • We’ll then hear from the National Lottery Community Fund Strategic Programmes team who will share their learnings on micro-funding activities; co-producing activities and services with people and communities; creating community connector schemes and supporting action across sectors, including with businesses, and a relational approach to grant management.

This event is hosted by Yorkshire Funders - find out more about about this collaboration on the Funders Collaborative Hub.
