Aims and activities
The Listening Fund was an England-wide partnership which worked to make the youth sector more accountable to those it exists to serve: young people.
The first phase of The Listening Fund in England ran from 2018 to 2020 and focused on supporting change in adult-led organisations, by investing in improvements to their listening policies, practices and cultures.
The second phase of The Listening Fund, from 2021 to 2024, continued to support adult-led organisations while also investing in youth leadership and grassroots work. Ten advisers, young people from across England, designed the strategy and call-outs for the latter two grant rounds and were instrumental in helping the funders involved in the fund form a deeper understanding of what is involved in listening to and working with young people.
We use as much of the time as possible to focus on bigger questions. Where does this work fit into the sector? How is it influencing us? Where can we collectively exert influence?
