The results of our fourth cohort of the racial justice audit is finally here! Join us for our soft launch as we reveal the findings, trends and patterns of racial justice funding in the UK. This event is for funders only, the results will be made public on our website by the end of March.
11 of our members submitted data on 1,286 grants, awarded between January 2023 and October 2023 (depending on their financial year and using only a year's worth of data), with a total of £56.6m.
Here’s a snippet of the results:
- ¼ of all grants benefitted communities experiencing racial inequity. This is a 22% drop on last year’s audit, when 46% of grants went on projects benefiting these communities.
- The yearly average grants size of those addressing root causes is about twice the size of those addressing the symptoms or other areas of work. In last year’s audit, just over a quarter were designed to address the root causes and just over a third tackled the effects of it.
At the meeting, we’ll discuss the context behind these findings and how funders can respond and develop their approach to supporting Black and Minoritised-led work.
Training on the audit
Following from the findings and many of you requesting training on the audit, this session will also include a step-by-step guide on how to complete the tool. Thanks to the feedback from our members, we have revised and improved the audit to help you complete it this year. This part of the meeting will also give us a chance to answer any questions you may have, so that you can do it for your own organisation!
Finally, we’d like to thank the members who took part in the audit:
